About

About Valentin Prugnaud, an AI product engineer in Vancouver building developer tools, delivery systems, and AI-assisted workflows.

What I do

I am an AI product engineer in Vancouver with more than fourteen years of experience building software. I work across product definition, interface design, backend systems, deployment, and the operational details that decide whether a product is useful after launch. My strongest work sits between product engineering and developer experience, especially when the problem is still ambiguous and needs an owner rather than another handoff.

I currently build Hookie, a webhook relay for developer and agent environments, and RSC Boundary, developer tools for understanding React Server Components. I also publish technical writing and case studies about TypeScript, Next.js, PostgreSQL, platform engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and the systems behind shipped products.

How I got here

My first engineering role involved marketing sites and newsletters in Paris. Within a year I was the only engineer responsible for a B2B ecommerce system, including its interface, backend, checkout, inventory, and production incidents. Later work included building Liftmap at WiderFunnel, serving as CTO of Speakbox through Techstars, and improving developer experience at TELUS.

At TELUS, I worked on self-service Cloud Run delivery, GitHub Actions workflows used by more than fifty teams, and an AI-assisted incident workflow that produced more than five hundred reports in its first two weeks. The technologies changed, but the job remained consistent: find the unclear product or delivery problem, make the tradeoffs explicit, and own the result through production.
